Krishna's city has been discovered! *We* all knew it was not a myth.

HARE KRISNA HARE KRISNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE!
HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE!

Dwaraka
Sri Krishna killed Kans (his maternal uncle) and made Ugrasen (his maternal grandfather) the king of Mathura. Enraged, the father-in-law of Kans, Jarasandh (king of Magadh) with his friend Kalayavan attacked Mathura 17 times. For the safety of the people, Krishna and Yadava decided to move the capital from Mathura to Dwarka.

Land was reclaimed from the sea near the western shores of Saurashtra. A city was planned and built here. Dwarka was a planned city, on the banks of river Gomati. This beautiful city was also known as Dwaramati, Dwarawati and Kushsthali. It had well organized six sectors, residential and commercial zones, wide roads, plazas, palaces and many public utilities. A hall called "Sudharma Sabha" was build to hold public meetings. The city also boasted a good harbour.

Dwaraka is rated as one of the seven most ancient cities in the country.

Submergence of Dwaraka
After Sri Krishna left for the heavenly abode, and the major Yadava heads were killed in fights among themselves; Arjun went to Dwarka to bring Krishna's grandsons and the Yadava wives to Hastinapur. After Arjun left Dwaraka, it was submerged in the sea. This is the account given by Arjun, in Mahabharat:

"The sea, which had been beating against the shores, suddenly broke the boundary that was imposed on it by nature. The sea rushed into the city. It coursed through the streets of the beautiful city. The sea covered up everything in the city. I saw the beautiful buildings becoming submerged one by one. In a matter of a few moments it was all over. The sea had now become as placid as a lake. There was no trace of the city. Dwaraka was just a name; just a memory."

Discovery of Dwaraka
The search for the lost city was going on since 1930's. Marine Archaeology Unit (MAU) of the National Institute of Oceanography, took part in this search in 1983. This search was carried out in the coastal waters of Dwaraka in Gujarat.

Between 1983 to 1990 was discovered, the well-fortified township of Dwaraka, that extended more than half a mile from the shore. The township was built in six sectors along the banks of a river. The foundation of boulders on which the city's walls were erected proves that the land was reclaimed from the sea.

Dwaraka extended upto Bet Dwaraka (Sankhodhara) in the north and Okhamadhi in the south. Eastward it extended upto Pindara. The general layout of the city of Dwaraka described in ancient texts agrees with that of the submerged city discovered by MAU.

Under Water Dwaraka Museum
The proposal for the Dwaraka museum, submitted by the MAU, involves laying a submarine acrylic tube through which visitors can view through glass windows the ruins of the city.

The State Goverment of Gujrat and the Travel & Tourism Department of Gujrat are working on this proposal (for over two decades). When completed, it will be the first museum to be built under the sea.

If Dwaraka excavations throw a flood of light on the history of the city which was associated with the life events of Krishna, the under-water excavations of Ayodhya situated on the bank of the river Sharayu might yield valuable information about the historicity of Rama, his age and contemporary urban status.

Source: Report about the excavations done by Dr. S.R. Rao of the Marine Archaeology Unit of the National Institute of Oceanography of India. Dr. S.R. Rao served the Archaeological Survey of India for over 32 years. He is the discoverer of a large number of Harappan sites including the port city of Lothal in Gujarat.

"Lost Underwater City 'could rewrite history'"

That was headline at BBC News Online on Saturday, January 19, 2002. Written by Tom Housden, it told of a 'lost city' discovered 120 feet underwater in the Gulf of Khambhat (Cambay) off the western coast of Gujarat, in India. It was found completely by chance by marine scientists from the Indian National Institute of Ocean Technology, (NIOT), who were conducting a water pollution survey of the area. Oceanographers from NIOT told the BBC that they had discovered arch æological remains 120 feet underwater in the Gulf of Khambhat (Cambay) which could be over 9,000 years old.

Copyright ©2002 BBC Online On the BBC Online website they reported on some of the technique used to make the historic discovery:
"Using sidescan sonar which sends a beam of sound waves down to the bottom of the ocean they identified huge geometrical structures at a depth of 120 feet."

An assortment of debris was recovered from the site area, including pottery, sections of walls, beads, sculptures and also human bones and teeth, some of which have been carbon 14 dated and found to be nearly 9,500 years old.

This amazing discovery is bound to radically change accepted ideas of the prehistory of the Indian sub-continent, as the BBC also reported that:

"The city is believed to be even older than the ancient Harappan civilisation,
which dates back around 4,000 years."

Indian marine arch æologists used a technique called "sub-bottom profiling" to show that the remains of the many buildings of this vast city, which is five miles long and two miles wide, and said to predate the oldest known arch æological remains on the Indian subcontinent by more than 5,000 years, stand on enormous foundations. Naturally, the BBC went to interview Graham Hancock, who, despite the obvious dangers involved, has regularly dived on ancient structures in many parts of the world in pursuit of his belief that there is "a big missing chapter in man's early history".

This is a belief which is increasingly being shared by many, including some arch æologists, who are reluctantly having to come to terms with the fact that there is quite likely to be much more evidence of ancient civilisation waiting to be discovered at the bottom of the oceans, on continental shelves, and in areas of shallow seas, all over the world. In fact, lying underwater in the Gulf of Khambhat (Cambay), there are not one, but two massive cities, both around the size of Manhattan, one approx. 8 km long and the other some 9km in length.

As we enter the 21st century, advances in computer technology are allowing Oceanographers everywhere to use sophisticated computer programs in order to simulate the ancient sea-levels before the end of the last Ice Age. As a result, they are discovering huge tracts of land all around the world that were above water some 10 to 15,000 years ago. While this would have been obvious to marine scientists for a many, many years, marine arch æologists have tended to restrict their underwater activities to the recovery of 'sunken treasure' and have barely, if ever, considered the possibility that 'any' evidence of ancient civilisation from before the end of the last Ice Age could be found in exactly the locations they have been discovered over the past decade or so.

Hancock told BBC Online:

"The [oceanographers] found that they were dealing with two large blocks of apparently man-made structures. Cities on this scale are not known in the arch æological record until roughly 4,500 years ago when the first big cities began to appear in Mesopotamia. Nothing else on the scale of the underwater cities of Cambay is known. The first cities of the historical period are as far away from these cities as we are today from the pyramids of Egypt."

Recent discoveries such as that of the Yonaguni structure in the East China sea between Japan and Taiwan, and more recently of a 'Lost City' in the Caribbean Sea, between the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and the western coast of the Guanahacabibes Peninsula of Cuba, are adding to the sense of awe that many of those involved in the historical sciences generally are beginning to feel as their long-cherished prehistory paradigms are being completely trashed again and again.

As you all know, this signals the end of KaliYuga. Kalki is probably alive on this planet right now, to be known to us by 2012.

I am ignorant of these things and just learning. For anyone else who may not know, as well, could you explain about the end of Kali Yuga. Please excuse my ignorance.

OK, this is going to be a rough outline, so bear with me: You know how all cultures seem to have a myth of the end times and a saviour who is going to return: Christians have the millenium (year 2000--not far off from 2012), the Aztec 25,000 year calendar that "ends" on the winter solstice (12/21) of 2012. The Egyptians, Sumerians, the Norse, the Dogon, the Hopi, the new agers with the Aquarian Age--the list goes on and on--most of them seem to agree that the year for this big change is 2012. This is an actual astonomical event that will be happening, our sun (and solar system) will be lining up with the center of the galaxy, like galactic chakras lining up, at the exact moment of winter solstice 2012. This is the end/beginning of a huge astronomical cycle. The Hindus also have the cycles, their huge one (can't recall its name) is divided into four yugas. The one we are now is in called Kali Yuga, or Age of Darkness. It is defined by crime, evil running rampant, immorality everywhere, leaders who are unscrupulous and unqualified, disease, natural disasters, pestilence, you name it. Well, Vishnu incarnates 10 times per yuga. He's already been here 9 times and the last was Buddha. Kalki is the 10th and he comes at the end of Kali Yuga to bring us all to the New age, the Age of Truth (Satya Yuga). Some places you will read that we are supposed to be in Kali Yuga for 437,000 more years, but that just doesn't make sense. Why would we have to wait 437,000 more years for the next incarnation of Vishnu? I mean, how much more corrupt and evil can get world get? (Don't answer that.) Nobody really knows when the ages started, but all are in agreement that this is Kali Yuga and has been for thousands of years. I believe the end of Kali Yuga is going to match with all the other cultures' prophesies of the end times, because they are all talking about the same thing, this huge astronomical cycle that our solar system makes in the galaxy, which has been scientifically pinpointed down to the second.

So: part of the Hindu prophesy of the end of Kali Yuga and beginning of the Satya Yuga is that Krishna's city will rise. And, as you can seen, it was discovered in 1983 and they're building an underwater museum so all can see it. In essence, it is rising.

Many people believe (myself included) that something really wonderful will happen by 2012--in fact it is happening right now! But we will have to face the destructive cleansing first (Shiva), which is also happening right now (earthquakes, floods, viruses, war, tsunamis, etc.) Huge masses of people who have prepared themselves will be enlightened by 2012, will ascend or transform our DNA or some wonderful thing--basically the lining up of the chakras of the galaxy will open a portal of ascension and we will take a leap, an evolutionary leap, and be a new people of light and love. This is happening now, as you look around you and see how many people are turning on and waking up to the Divine and to the Ancient teachings.

Kalki is the 10th Avatar, here now as a physical being on the planet or here inside us or both. He supposedly will be riding a white horse (universal symbol of Truth) and brandish a sword to free the righteous from the unrighteous.

Tulsi Das said there is no cure for Kali Yuga except the Name of Ram. Karma, good works, learning, service, prayers, etc., nothing is going to help right now except for chanting the Name of Ram.

Gandhi said the only cure for the evil of Kali Yuga is chanting the name of Ram (who is an incarnation of Vishnu, as is Krishna and Buddha). Gandhi's last words were Ram Ram. Why is this? Because of all the things people said in the thread about what does bhakti mean to you: It is a direct connection of Love between you and God. I believe that when this magic moment comes on 12/21/2012, those who have prepared themselves and are coming from a place of Love instead of Fear will make the leap. I do not know what happens to the others.

Anyway, that is it in a very big nutshell. Anybody out there with more details--correct my rough outline. There is a great deal of very interesting discussion about other cultures prophesies, and what it all might mean, on the Year 2012 tribe. You can also Google Galactic Alignment, Year 2012, Kalki Bhagavan, etc. for more information. But the basic work that needs to be done is being done by people like the Bhakts on this tribe and all of us who are trying to deal with our fears and learning to Love. Kalki Bhagavan (who may be *the* Kalki--who knows?) says if enough people are enlightened (60,000) it will create a critical mass and affect everybody else around them and he thinks this will happen by 2012.

            HARE RAM RAM RAM
            SITA RAM RAM RAM!

cynthia - i really appreciate your writings
i too believe a lot is going down in the present, in fulfillment of the past, and that we can longer change our course, we can only witness what is already in motion, and share the skills of survival.

what a time we chose to be born in!

                one love.

Time is Anantha (Infinite). Divisions of time are called Kala Manam.
Paramanu is the smallest unit of time.
              Two Paramanus make one Anu
              3 Anus = 1 Thrasarenu
              3 Thrasarenus = 1 Thrudi
              100 Thrudis = 1 Talpara
              30 Talparas = 1 Nimesha
              3 Nimeshas = 1 Kshana
              6 Kshanas = 1 Kashta (3.2 sec)
              15 Kashtas = 1 Laghu (48 sec)
              15 Laghus = 1 Khadi (12 minutes)
              2 Khadis = 1 Muhoorta (24 minutes)
              7.5 Khadis = 1 Yama or Prahara (3 hours)
              4 Yamas = 1 Day time (12 hours)
              8 Yamas = 1 Ahoratra (24 hours)
              15 Ahoratras = 1 Paksha (15 days)
              2 Pakshas = 1 Month
              2 Months = 1 Ritu
              6 Months = 1 Ayana (1/2 year)
              2 Ayana = 1 Samvatsara (1 year)
              1 Samvatsara = 1 Deva Dina
              360 Devadinas = 1 Devavarsha
              12,000 Devavarshas = 1 Chaturyuga
              1000 Chaturyugas = 1 Kalpa
              2 Kalpas = 1 Brahma Dina = 14 Manvantaras
              1 Manvantaras = 71 Chaturyuga
              2*30*12*120 Kalpas = 1 Brahma's life time
              1200 Devavarshas (432,000 Manushyavarshas) = Kali Yuga
              2400 Devavarshas (864,000 Manushyavarshs) = Dwapara Yuga
              3600 Devavarshas (1,296,000 Manushyavarshas) = Treta Yuga
              4800 Devavarshas (1,728,000 Manushyavarshas) = Krita Yuga
              12,000 Devavarshas = 1 Mahayuga
1000 Mahayugas = 1 Kalpa (Day time of Brahma)
100 Brahma Varshas or Para = 36,000 Brahma Dinas = 1 Mahakalpa or Mahapralayam
